To reach herd immunity, about 85 percent of the total population would have to be completely immune, either through vaccination or a previous COVID infection, Dr. Paul Klotman, president and CEO of Baylor College of Medicine told the Chronicle. Case rates also would have to be closer to 1 or 2 per 100,000 residents, he said.
So how are Houston-area neighborhoods faring in the fight to reach herd immunity? Not great.
