Locals of Houston…

I am going on a road trip next week and will be passing through Houston, after my stop in NOLA. Depending on the recommendations, I may stay for one day or possibly longer. Sad to say, but I have never been in Houston, so I am super stoked to visit. Looking for any recommendations, whether it’s tourist sites, national parks, museums, hot spots, and most importantly… drum roll please restaurants. I am a big foodie and am open to trying all kinds of new food specifically unique to Houston. I know that Texas in general is known for their bbq, but if there is any specific restaurant in Houston you would recommend, it would be appreciated. Yes, I could have googled this. However, I have noticed that googling would result in generic and boring answers. The real gem is seeking the knowledge of the locals as they know the area better than anyone else. Thanks.
