Suggestions on nice area to stay a night with my family that has a good breakfast/brunch spot during the week?

My family and I are traveling to Galveston from DFW for a quick trip. We are going to stop in Houston the night before to stay so we can get to the beach at a reasonable time the next day.

Can anyone suggest a nice area with a decent hotel (up to $250/night) that has a nice brunch (can also be lunch as well) scene? We will be staying on a Wednesday night.
