Recommendation on best way to get rid of old junk car?

My wife's 18 year old car is on its last legs where we literally have to keep jump starting it each time to use, and my family thinks we should sell to a junkyard and just get a few hundred dollars out of it if we can. They don't believe a used dealer or anyone from Craigslist would bother with this and it's too expensive to keep repairing all the issues.

Is this the best way to go, and if so, what places you recommend to get rid of it to?
