Looking in Houston as a fist time home buyer (250k-ish)

I work near i-10 and Guessner and have started the process of looking for a place to buy weather sky rise or condo or house or whatever. My fiancé and i are really open to anything. i just don’t know much about the city and feel like this community might be able to guide me a little. thank you!
