a personal message to this sub

I don't know if the front page on r/astros is the best place to say this or if it should have been in a game chat, but anyways…

It's been an absolute pleasure enjoying Astros baseball with everyone in here. I've spent countless hours in this sub talking with you guys during almost every game for the last 4-5 years and have gotten to know some of you very well. this sub has been less like a Reddit page to me and more like a clubhouse where I can spend time with fellow Astros fans daily and we can go through the highs and lows of baseball together.

This morning I was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer. based on what I've been told the cancer has spread slightly but not to any other organs. thankfully we have one of the best cancer centers in the nation here in Houston at MD Anderson, and my treatment will begin soon. looking at numbers online the 5 year survival rate for stage III colorectal cancer is about 70%, and I'm still relatively young and healthy at 31 years old.

More than likely i'll be ok, and will remain in here talking baseball with you all for years to come. however, nothing is certain. if the worst should happen then I just want to say I love you guys, the mods, and the sub in general. nothing makes me more excited than keeping the hoes mad by having one more Astro fan in the world as I begin my fight to beat cancer.
