To Live What You Believe

To live what you believe is the highest form of human expression we have. I start with this simple, yet true statement to introduce Skrap Dawg, an R&B Artist based in Houston. Every time I have reached out to Skrap Dawg and his wife, they have always been so incredibly welcoming and I do believe that is one of the many areas where Skrap Dawg embodies the name he chose for his artistic representation to the world.

Let me explain – skrap is an urban term which means to fight. Dawg is broken down into:

D = Disciplened

A = Annoited

W = Wise

G = Gifted

Skrap Dawg is a man who lives through his name every day. He continues to produce music that’s heavy in putting the social issues of today at center stage. I feel like his music is art that goes through your ears and straight to your heart. You can’t stop and not hear what he’s saying because the words in his music are that of a man who has been annoited and is wise in using the gifts he’s been given. It is the disciplen that Skrap Dawg pursues everyday that has created his success not only in the music arena but in the community as well. He and his wife are very active in working with the youth in the community and bringing a positive message that they can resonate with.

During this interview we talk about his music, how his style and message has changed over the years, the impact of social issues on his writing, his non-profit work, and the work he does in the Houston community to give back and leave a lasting legacy. It’s for this reason that Skrap Dawg is a Great Houstonian!

Stay tuned for more updates on Skrap Dawg, he has great projects in the works and we at Houston City Beat look forward to sharing the great news with you!

I hope you love the interview as much as I loved putting it together. Make sure to visit Skrap Dawg’s website at www.skrapdawg.com to listen to his music and purchase and support his efforts.
