Should I wait until after the eviction ban to move?

I went apt hunting recently, and the places I went to acted kinda sketchy, despite being advertised as having units.

One of them even laid down the law, insinuating that I better be the only one here if I’m on the lease bc they check occupancy every day. Another just didn’t show a unit at all, and was super nervous the whole time.

Is it just a bad time? Should I wait until the chaos when the eviction ban lifts, and landlords won’t look at me funny for being on the market?

Aside from that, apts are crazy expensive right now. I’m looking at trashy places bc I can’t afford anything else at these rates.

Nothing about housing right now is ideal, but am I pissing in the wind to even try for the next two months?
