I am big stupid but I want to be big smart. How does the library work in Houston?
Tldr at the bottom!
I am at a new point in my life that, after years of alcoholism, and coming home from rehab for the second time in my life as of Friday, I want to do things differently. I want to explore the city more and find things to keep me busy, rather than staying home and always being alone, staying bored and inactive, and letting the craving creep over me as it occasionally does, I want to fill my time with old hobbies I used to have before I drank.
I went online to search for a public library, but it turns out there's a lot, and I don't know if I'm supposed to go to a specific one, or if I qualify to go to any one I'd like. But I saw there are two different websites, Houston public library with a MyLink card (I think that works at several places?) or Harris County public library with two different types of library cards.
Do I have a choice of any library I'd like? Or is it based off of where I live? And if I can choose, any recommendations on which library you like more and why? I plan on checking out a variety of books, using a computer to print simple word documents, finding a place to read and sit for a while so a place with water and a restroom would be preferable (I have type 2 diabetes so I need frequent restroom breaks). I also plan on taking the bus to and from but I don't mind a little walking since it'll be good for me, and if ever in an emergency I can always call a ride so that's not a big worry.
Finally, if it matters, I live in the spring branch area so if it's based on location I can always go to the closest one near where I live but I'd like to see the differences of each one and hear what each person likes if possible.
Tldr: I live in the spring branch area, which library do I go to and what's the difference between Houston public library and Harris county public library?
Thank you love you kisses right on your lips-es 😘
