The Mariners lost…but they’re not done
Disclaimer: I'm glad to see a division rival lose a game/series, though on a human level I do wish Seattle had gotten to experience a WS for the first time. I remember how amazing it was in '05, and I think everyone should get to experience the joy of supporting a team through highs and lows and seeing it work out.
We all know this season went horribly wrong compared to our expectations, so it's more likely that next season is better, but there's a catch: Seattle isn't going away.
Cal Raleigh absolutely overperformed expectations and isn't likely to maintain that level of production, but the rest of their team played pretty normally. They've got a lot of talent, and I don't see them missing the playoffs next year.
Ownership needs to hedge their bets and retool the rotation around HB. Would love to see us get Skubal, but more realistically I think we can get guys like Luis Severino and Jack Flaherty, maybe Framber if the price is right.
