The Chronicle staff predictions for today’s game

Very good discussion of both teams’ strengths and weaknesses here: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/texans/article/seahawks-monday-night-football-texans-21107951.php

Do you agree or disagree with their predictions and why?

Jonathan M. Alexander (Season record: 3-2):

Seahawks 20, Texans 16: I’m expecting a chess match between two of the NFL’s best defensive minds. It’ll be close, but the Seahawks will win on a go-ahead touchdown that the Texans will be unable to answer.

Reid Laymance (Season record: 2-3):

Seahawks 13, Texans 12: The 12th Man and Seahawks' defense are too much for a Texans offense still finding its legs.

Greg Rajan (Season record: 3-2):

Seahawks 27, Texans 20: The Texans’ offense has shown improvement, but that must be taken with a grain of salt since it came against the Titans and Ravens. The Seahawks in Seattle will provide a better gauge of Houston’s progress. Sam Darnold is having another good season and carved up Houston’s defense last year with Minnesota. He won’t have it as easy this time but Seattle should ride home field to a tight win.

Brandon Scott (Season record: 4-1):

Seahawks 23, Texans 17: The Texans found something offensively in the two games ahead of the off week, but they hadn’t seen a defensive front in an environment quite like this. The concern has to be if the operation can be as clean as it was against Tennessee and Baltimore, and if the defense is up for containing one of the league’s most dynamic playmakers in Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Sam Warren (Season record: 3-2):

Seahawks 20, Texans 17: Houston's offense drops off in production as it faces a more fierce Seahawks defense, but looks more competent than the first three weeks. Explosive plays by Seattle's rushing attack and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are the difference as the Texans fall to 2-4 in a close one.

Matt Young (Season record: 1-4):

Seahawks 20, Texans 17: It’s tempting to go with the Texans since they just had an off week, but DeMeco Ryans’ squad laid an egg at Carolina coming off an open week two years ago. Monday night in Seattle is a tough spot for the Texans, no matter how well-rested and prepared.
