Academy Sports and Outdoors eliminates COO position, laying off exec

Katy-based Academy Sports and Outdoors (Nasdaq: ASO) has eliminated its COO position, laying off current COO and Executive Vice President Kenneth Attaway.

Attaway’s last day is Jan. 29, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. His role will be absorbed by other Academy senior employees, including Michael Mullican, executive vice president and CFO, and Sam Johnson, executive vice president of retail operations.
