Lease termination options for persistent mold and humidity problems
In an apartment right now that has a huge humidity problem which causes mold growth. Every time I report this, maintenance just comes and wipes the mold down. Humidity is always at 65-70%. Couple days ago, I came back from a few days of travel and noticed the entire apartment smelled like mold. Found a bunch of growth in and near one of the exhaust vents. It is causing health irritations and not making it a safe place to live. They do not address the root cause of the problem, they simply just wipe it down. This time it’s very bad.
I have back up living arrangements and wanted to know what options I have for terminating my lease without paying any penalties, affecting my renting history, etc? Do I need to involve a lawyer? If so, any recommendations? Thank you!
