The Most Disappointing Thing About the Current Watson Situation

How easily McNair and Easterby could’ve avoided this if they were even slightly competent. Even if they don’t want to hire Bienemy, even if they don’t want to include Deshaun in their selection process, they could’ve easily just done the interview as a formality to give Watson at least some amount of confidence that they care a marginal amount and listen to his opinion.

We’re in a pandemic, they literally could’ve had a one hour interview on Zoom and then said “hey, we gave him a shot but we want to go a different direction”, etc. etc.

It’d be one thing if we were a good team, or even a decent one, but who the hell are we to be treating Deshaun like he’s expendable or that he’s lucky to even be here? What kind of a franchise lets their superstar QB find out about the new GM hire through Twitter? Not only was he not considered in the hiring process, they didn’t even have the decency to call or even send a text to let him know before releasing the hire to the general public on social media. We just made one of the worst trades in league history against Watson’s requests, then go 4-12 choking away multiple 4th quarter comebacks on all Watson’s shoulders on his way to his first passing title. Cal and the FO should be bending over backwards to make him feel like this team is heading in the right direction and that he’s involved in the process of building a culture he wants and a plan forward. Our executives are clearly brain damaged and it’s super obvious that we are going nowhere fast the way this franchise is run right now.

TL;DR: Cal and Easterby are fucking morons who could’ve just faked involving Watson and avoided all this BS
