Quick show of hands – are you guys subscribing to the Chronicle to see misogynist hit pieces on the County Judge, or for, you know, news and information?
Over the last week there was a huge wave of press attacks on the County Judge, and they all had one thing in common: they all presented a political perspective rather than providing readers/viewers any kind of actual information about the situation. Informal polling revealed that readers and viewers couldn't describe the underlying political dispute, indicating that a deliberate propaganda effort is underway to misinform the public.
Put simply: time to cancel your subscription to the Houston Chronicle. It's either either serve the interests of billionaire advertisers or paying subscribers, not both. You should be forced to return your Pulitzers for journalistic malpractice, and Steven Shwartz should be summarily fired as CEO for failure in his fiduciary duty to Hearst's shareholders.
Since you've forgotten: a local paper is supposed to serve the community, not wealthy political donors' decade long campaign to undermine a popularly re-elected government.
