6 days family roadtrip from Houston?

Was planning to finally drive out to West Texas and see Big Bend and other national parks for the first time but with the government shutdown, it's gonna have to be for another time. I'm having trouble picking another place for my family to go next week last minute since we've already asked for vacation time.

Would like a location that can't be done as a day/weekend trip and preferably somewhere scenic or with nature. We have 6/7ish days and max driving time could be 9 hours if there are interesting stop(s) along the way otherwise less is better. I feel like we've already been to a lot of the top Texas spots (Palo Duro, South Padre, Corpus Christi, Hill Country, San Antonio, Austin, etc.) and we've also done roadtrips to New Orleans, Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Destin, Florida.

I was thinking about somewhere in Oklahoma like camping in Beavers Bend state park but not sure if it's that great to drive all the way there and have enough things to do. Albuquerque was also an idea to see the balloon fiesta but the hotel prices are not in budget booking last minute. Would appreciate any suggestions you have!
