$50M gift to Prairie View A&M University unique in its lack of stipulations, president says
When Prairie View A&M University near Houston recently received a $50 million donation from billionaire philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, it came with no strings attached.
That’s not usually the case, said Ruth Simmons, president of PVAMU. With multimillion-dollar gifts to universities, donors typically stipulate that the funds have to be used for something specific, such as a new building or educational programming.
