5 things to know today, including a bit of good news on the Covid front

Good morning, Houston! There seems to be a lot of news to catch up on this week before Labor Day weekend kicks off.

• Covid-19 hospitalizations in the Texas Medical Center have inched down for the first time since late June/early July. On Aug. 29, the TMC reported 388 average daily hospitalizations for the past week, down from a record 390 average daily hospitalizations the week before.
