3 hours at George Bush Airport, enough time to leave airport?

Hello Houstonians, I am traveling and have a 3 hr 14 layover at the airport. Would it be possible/convenient to leave the airport and go to downtown or any cool spots nearby to grab a bite to eat and do some very very quick sightseeing?
