22 hours in Houston

Hi y'all! Me and my girlfriend will have a 22 hour layover in Houston and plan to spend the night. What would you recommend doing during this time? Hotel tips would also be appreciated btw, as we haven't booked anything yet.

We have never been to the US. I'm thinking of having some great BBQ, maybe check out some live music and drink some nice craft beer. Any tips for good spots?

We will arrive around 4pm and fly out around 2pm the next day. So I'm thinking we should be able to have a nice night out and maybe do something the next morning. I'd also love to go to a traditional American diner for breakfast perhaps.
