Help: Can anyone tell where this picture was taken?

I took this photo in the spring of 1984 on a Pentax K1000 film camera. I remember getting off the freeway and walking around underneath to get the shot. But I can’t identify the location. There was no GPS available.

I believe I got off Pierce Elevated near where it met Southwest Fwy and took a turnaround to get back to the intersection. But it could have been East Fwy and Eastex. I can’t tell by the angle of the buildings in view. Most of these would be covered by newer buildings.

Does anyone recognize the intersection?

Would you take your kids on the Metrorail

We’ll be visiting Houston in the next few months and wanted to see if you would recommend using the metrorail (I will have my 3 elementary aged girls with me)? It would be easy enough for us to get on and off from where we are staying, and it stops at several destinations we would be going to, but I’d rather not expose my kids to things like a bunch of crack-heads having a gang bang in the back of the train… Or have a crazy homeless person screaming at us during the ride…
