Hi gang–I am looking to start a new arm tattoo (fairly sizable, think quarter- to half-sleeve) later this year, and while I am going to reach out to the guy I normally go to first, I was curious who the good ol’ hivemind might recommend for this type of work. A couple of points that may be worth some consideration:

• Specifically, I’m looking for someone who’s really good with black/white work. At least right now, my idea is to build the piece off of some works by a sculptor named Gian Lorenzo Bernini, so there is likely going to be a lot of detail work, shading, etc.
• There may be a bit of cover-up work involved (have a small tattoo that will likely need to go the way of the dodo here, though I’m open to discussion if the artist feels differently).
• Part of town is not super-important. I live in the southern ‘burbs, but I don’t mind driving for quality work.
• By no means is this an urgent request. Knowing this won’t be cheap, I plan to save for the next several months (and hey, maybe drop a couple lbs. or 20, who’s to say), so my plan is to reach out and start the process in the fall.
• As alluded to above, this is not my first tattoo. I feel like this point is (mostly?) irrelevant, but I did feel like it was worth saying.
