For those who may not have seen it, the other day I made a pledge to donate my Doge earnings to a local women’s shelter.
A little background information to clear up a few questions.
For those of you who are wondering why I went through Doge specifically rather than writing a check, it’s because I hadn’t originally intended to give the money away. I started a few weeks ago with a tiny amount in the hopes of trying to earn enough to put towards a PS5. The money was already in the market when I made my promise.
Because I have little to no life, I sat skimming profits for hours and hours, days and days, and after starting out with a much smaller basis, I was able to rack up $434.53. I held onto the profits and never put them back into the market. I was holding off on making the donation until last night, on the off chance I would be able to add some more to it; however, just as I assumed the prices went down a bit last night.
$434.53. With your help, I have found two shelters to give this money to. The communities of /r/Astros and /r/Houston had two suggestions that earned a large amount of support. These were Daya Houston and the Houston Area Women’s Center. If it weren’t for the community, I would not have learned about Daya – so the post was enormously successful in that regard, considering it was, by far, the most suggested one.
The donation sections are a bit different between the two. HAWC let me submit a custom amount for a donation while Daya had predetermined amounts. I figured the easiest thing was to simply round up to $450.
Therefore, with your help at /r/Houston and /r/Astros, we were able to make two donations today.
$250 to Daya Houston
$200 to Houston Area Women’s Center
I wish you and your loved ones a very special Mother’s Day.
Thank you all for your help. I know it’s not much and it’s not the wild 200000% gains y’all expected but it’s more than I had to give before.
