I’ve spent the last few weeks searching for rentals (general Upper Kirby/Montrose area) and the availability seems super low – especially for non-traditional, smaller apartment complexes or multi-family properties. If I do message an agent about touring, half the time the unit is rented before I can even see it. Also, the rates are really high for places that don’t have central a/c or in-unit laundry.
Is this the “busy season” for rentals or what? How long have you been in your current place, and how often have you moved in the past? What has your experience been like when moving? What are you must-haves for a place?
I’ve been in my current apartment for 18 months – extended the lease due to not wanting to move during Covid. I was in my previous apartment for 3 years – and the one before that for almost 10.
