A question for those of you who’ve already been vaccinated

I just put myself on the COVID vaccination waitlist at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center. For those of you who have been vaccinated there already, how long did you have to wait to get an appointment? For my parents, it took just an hour or two to get one after putting themselves on the list, but both of them are teachers (so they’re prioritized).

Daily dose of Yordan (Game 1)

Quick disclaimer, I’m not an Astros fan, but I am a huge fan of Yordan, ever since his signing by my Dodgers in 2016. I’ve been hoping for a triumphant return from him for quite a while now, so I thought I’d chronicle his every game this year starting with this one and point out what went right and what didn’t.

At bat 1: 7 pitch pop out

At bat 2: 5 pitch double, 2 RBI

At bat 3: 1 pitch HBP

At bat 4: 3 pitch flyout (sacrifice fly)

I know it’s just the first game of the season, but damn, what a great first game back for Yordan. Obviously the 2-run double off the wall is great (should have been a home run imo, missed the fence by a couple inches) but I was more impressed by the at bat prior to that one. He quickly went down 0-2 on some borderline strikes, but instead of swinging worried, he worked the count back to 3-2 and fouled off a tough pitch before missing one and popping out. Very encouraging to see the 94th percentile walk rate and the 94th percentile exit velocity that made him such a deadly hitter in 2019. Overall a fantastic debut, hope to see a lot like this in the future.

Maybe It’s Just a Tiny Little Dumpster Fire? I’m a Huge Texans Fan – Here’s my Unpopular Opinions

I bleed deep steel blue. This post will have all sorts of Kool-Aid stains all over it.

I’ve been a fan since they named the team. Was at Game 1 (glorious victory over the Cowboys), and many games since. I have felt (and still feel) that Easterby is the worst thing for the Texans front office and the team has been a s**t show since the Hopkins trade. I started r/pleasefirebillobrien . I also believe firing BoB was the best thing to happen to the team. I was appalled at the Culley hire and could not believe we did not hire EB. And I have believed we needed to do everything we could do to keep DW4. When the lawsuits came out, I called Buzbee a clown, and really couldn’t believe this was happening now. I briefly (for like a day) thought maybe Cal had orchestrated it as a smear campaign.

Unpopular Fan Opinion 1 – I’ve just about changed my mind on DW4

The weeks have rolled on and we’re now up to 19, 20 lawsuits? DW4 hired Rusty, which tells me DeShaun thinks there’s a real problem here. I read the SI article, the one about the massage therapist that is not part of the lawsuitand she described her experience, which was really just f’in gross to read.

And now I’m out on DW4. I hate typing that and reading it, but it’s true. He’s a phenomenal talent, the generational QB that the Texans have sought for years. And he fucked up. And I just think it won’t ever be the same with him here again. Texans need to get what value they can when they can, maybe this draft, but certainly by next draft.

Unpopular Fan Opinion 2 – DW4 would be gone after this anyway

Based upon the history of this team, whether DW4 had pushed for a trade or not, he would have been gone anyway. The McNair family has never put up with players acting like this. Hell, the possibility exists that DW4 may have requested a trade because he knew this was coming and he thought the early pressure would make the Texans react to give him some distance from all this before it got out of hand.

Unpopular Fan Opinion 3 – DW4 will be great again somewhere else

I think this will run its course. It may take a year or more. DW4 may ‘rehabilitate’ personally and be an outstanding talent for another team. He may sit this year, we may free up the cap space because the NFL helps the Texans out and lets him take the year off to deal with all of this. But he’s played his last game in a Texans jersey. And when he lands, he will have at least 5-7 good years left to lead that team to multiple playoff and possible Super Bowl appearances.

Unpopular Fan Opinion 4 – Maybe, Maybe, Maybe DW4 could QB the Texans again? Ok, probably almost definitely not, but Maybe?

There is still a huge fan part of me that just really wants and believes that Deshaun can lead us to Super Bowls within the next 2-5 years. I want the good guy, PG rated ending; DW4 stays the QB of the Houston Texans, he closes up all the lawsuits and hosts a good old fashioned Tiger Woods Style apology press conference on a stage with Texans ownership where you know he’s committed for the long term and the public can start to decide whether to forgive him. It would have to be a grand apology tour. Apologize to his accusers, apologize to the fans, apologize to the team, ownership, and management for letting everyone down, apologize to the city. He’d finish and tearfully hug his mom, then he would turn around and hug Cal, all while Casserio watched quietly from the middle of the stage stone faced. So yeah – no, I don’t think that would actually happen, I don’t think DW4 gets to that point, and equally as important I don’t think Casserio would allow it … but maybe?

Unpopular Fan Opinion 5 – Nick Casserio can GM AF

Easterby still needs to go. He may have actually made those phone calls once he heard through the grapevine what was coming with regards to these accusations. And that alone is sloppy HR.

But Nick Casserio … Holy crap can this guy GM!

I think Cal has largely stepped out of the way, and it seems Nick has sidelined Jack for the most part this offseason. Casserio has ginsu’d the s**t out of the cap with our roster making cuts and acquisitions left and right. We’ve got 2 running backs now! I know we are all passionate fans, and the moves this team makes baffle us at times. But lets be honest – This is a massive, massive business and Casserio has a ton of experience and credibility on his side allowing him to make some difficult moves.

Unpopular Fan Opinion 6 – Maybe its just a tiny dumpster fire

Its been a dumpster fire. And it sucks to hear Casserio stonewall questions or Culley tow the company line when asked about the hard topics. But this is what these guys do, and they’re good at it. My mind is changing to give them a chance. Its still a dumpster fire, but maybe its a lot smaller fire in a lot smaller dumpster than I originally thought. Only time will tell.

Raise your glasses of Kool Aid, and F**k the Colts … Its almost Pre-Season y’all.
