I have been trying for WEEKS to get my new car registered/pay sales tax/get plates.

Every time I try to schedule on this link, I get a message saying that there are no appointments available: https://www.hctax.net/Auto/Appointments/Appointment

I have tried every branch withing a 30 minute drive and every date between today and April 15 (when the COVID exemption expires) and they’re apparently ALL full.

I tried calling the downtown branch to see if they just do walk-ins, but nobody is answering the phones.

Have you received a covid vaccine? What was your experience? Any takeaways or advice for people still waiting?

If you haven’t received one yet – are you registered and where? (I’ve seen several different websites floating around.)

How are you feeling about waves arms around you know, things in general?

I’ve just received the bill with the following line:

• Customer charge ~$20

As per their definition:

Customer charge and base amount. Covers fixed costs for reading meters, issuing bills, maintaining facilities and gas lines, postage, etc. These costs occur even if you do not use gas during a billing period.

Does any of you know how they get this value?

Why it is $20 and not $200 or $2000?

Have we signed up to pay such ‘charges’?

p.s. I haven’t been able to get any reasonable information from their customer service.
