I’m looking to canoe sometime in the next week or two around the Houston area and I was wondering if anyone had a good spot. I’m relatively new to canoeing having only done it back in the scouts when I was younger. But I built a canoe after Harvey left me stranded for weeks and I’m looking to use it now that Covid has kept me indoors for a year. I’ve heard Buffalo Bayou and Armand Bayou are decent places. But I have heard mixed stories about Buffalo bayou, and I’m slightly concerned about going into the drink with 10ft alligators in my diy canoe over at Armand. But these stories are all from threads that are several years old at this point so I don’t know if anything has changed. Any suggestion would be super helpful! Edit: Included photos of canoe just in case anyone was interested. I’m 5’11” so the canoe is about 12′ ish. submitted by /u/ColonelShrimps |
