1. Career suicide for Caserio. Nick seems like a smart enough guy to know he’d be blacklisted from future jobs if he traded away a generational qb. BoB did the same with a WR (along with many other blunders), and he’ll most likely never see a front office again. The only way this isn’t career suicide is if we’re offered a kings ransom (Several firsts, seconds, and high quality players).

2. Very few teams would be willing to sell the house, even though Watson is recognized as a great. Additionally, the majority of teams in the league have at least a suitable QB, which means less competitive bidding. There would have to be a good amount of teams interested to get the price high enough. There would also be salary cap issues with a lot of teams but this post is long enough lol.

3. The biggest and strongest case. The no trade clause. Only way a trade goes through is if Watson consents. If Houston and another team reach an agreement, Watson would basically end up with the final say. So, Watson is now at the point of choosing to mend relationships with the Houston FO, or being traded to a team that would have just sold the house for him. It’s hard to imagine he’d be willing to go somewhere that sells their future for a young quarterback.

This obviously relies on Caserio being a functional GM, which I think is. I think we all need to take a step back and just see how this unfolds. It really sucks Watson is unhappy, I want him to love our franchise just like everybody else. But time will always help heal things. Let’s see what happens.
