Early Season Campfire Chat Thread: (Also: brief sub rules overview)

Two week in, and the Texans aren’t ready for the spotlight just yet.

If it helps, the losses came against probably the two best teams in the league right now. As the Chiefs and Ravens play each other this week, it’ll be interesting to see how they look against each other.

Onto Rules.

We usually have a pre-season thread to go over sub rules, introduce ourselves, and help get everyone ready for the year. This year was a little different, as we just kinda jumped right into things.

Going forward, we will be more actively enforcing some sub rules that tend to get overlooked fairly often.

Game Day Rules:
  • On game days, we tend to remove a LOT of self-post that are overly reactionary.
  • If your post is just a brief title, and no content, it will probably be removed.
  • During the game, if their is a big play (TD, INT, etc) you can post a highlight as it’s own thread.
  • If you make a self-post about the game, with no real insight or content, I don’t care how many exclamation points or emojis you use, it’s probably getting removed.
  • Something I usually do to police threads here: Wait an hour. If a thread only has a handful of upvotes, and only a few comments within that time, it will probably be removed.
Fire BoB Threads
  • Yes it’s bad, but there have been enough threads about it already.
  • Maybe we’ll put up a mega-thread and sticky it? But unless you have actual insight to share, we’ll probably be removing those threads going forward.
  • Yes this includes threads asking for list of HC replacements.
Attitude towards others
  • Your angst is your own.
  • If someone doesn’t agree with you, it is not okay to attack them.
  • Not everyone agrees BoB is the problem. (…most people do, but not all)
  • Some people are just sick of hearing the same talk every time after a loss.
  • If your team is losing, it’s okay to be upset. Not okay to be totally negative towards everyone here.

Try to remember what’s really important. F**k the Colts. F**k the Titans. F**k the Jaguars.

Xochi in Downtown Houston Set to Reopen October 1

Back in mid-March when Texas governor Greg Abbott ordered restaurant dining rooms to close, the husband-and-wife team of chef Hugo Ortega and restaurateur Tracy Vaught chose to temporarily shutter their Oaxacan restaurant, Xochi. With restaurants now allowed to have up to 75% guest occupancy, Xochi — located on the first floor of the Marriott Marquis […]

Snap counts through week 2

What do you all think about the snap counts through these 2 games? Here are the big changes in snap counts from week 1 to week 2 (these are not entirely accurate and I won’t bother to verify):

Brandon Cooks – 53% to 90%

PJ Hall – 25% to 66%

JJ Watt – 91% to 68%

Charles Omenihu – 64% to 45%

Brennan Scarlett – 38% to 63%

Dylan Cole – 0% to 25%

John Reid – 46% to 0%

Keion Crossen – 0% to 37%

Other interesting bit is Lonnie Johnson has only played 42% and 35% of snaps. Akins has also been outsnapping Fells 80% to 40%.

Thoughts?
