Hello just have a question and was wondering if anyone with some knowledge could assist.

Some background info: in the past year I’ve had substance abuse problems. I went through some personal dilemas about 4 months ago which was the culmination of my substance abuse and addiction. My father passed away suddenly and my s/o left me while she was going through a psychotic break. This is when i first became fully dependent on heroin.

I never shot up but i did foolish things like mix with cocaine which made me visit the er once because i thought i was gonna die. I kept on using heroin up until about 3 weeks ago when i couldn’t afford my habit anymore (lost job due to covid, still unemployed but trying to get back on my feet). When i ran out of heroin i had the blessing of having had access to a stash of subutex 8 mg which a friend sold me.

I went mostly withdrawal free from quitting the heroin and the subs also satisfied my opiate cravings. I’ve been on subs for a few weeks but ran out about 2 days ago and i don’t have access to said friend anymore. Now I’ve been experiencing mild withdrawals from the subs. The first night was the worst with restlessness. I’ve been supplementing with kratom but is not the same and now I can’t fall asleep until 5 am and only sleep 4 hours.

I recently got into the goldcard insurance program and have an appointment coming with the psychiatrist. I hadn’t seen a doctor in 10 years before this.I already spoke once over the phone with the therapist( not psychiatrist) and she wasn’t of much help and just told me to go to the er or bentaub. I really don’t have the time to wait 30 hrs at a big medical facility and still not be guaranteed any help. Also my anxiety is already through the roofeven worse with fears of catching covid as i have elderly people in my home.

Should i speak now with my psychoatrist or try to ask for an addiction specialist? Does anyone with the goldcard get subutex/suboxone or methadone? Are there any cheap clinics where a doctor could write me a script? Would i have to piss dirty for heroin(the only opiate in my system rn is probably buprenorphine)?

Anyway i know they’re crutches and still an addicton but if it keeps me from relapsing on harder opiates i think it’s something I want for the time being. I’m in my mid 20s I’m starting to have hope for the first time in a long time. I plan on getting married soon and going back to school.
