Read MoreGreater Houston high school teacher here. I (24F) know I’m young, with no serious conditons, but I’m here to tell everyone that if I had another job lined up, I’d quit teaching.
If I think about going back to school too much, I panic. Our district is going back full time. We should sit the kids 6ft apart, and “have outside class when possible” in this heat?…okay.
Y’all know teachers can’t unionize. Nobody is legally fighting for our health and safety.
If I get sick, the Federal Government gives 80 extra days (hours?) for leave. Help with medical bills? Nah. Reduction in class sizes? Nah.
Oh wait! I’m expected to clean my classroom between passing periods!! Because I have the time in between everything else I’m expected to do between classes (attendance, paper organization, resetting stations, bathroom…etc.)
Y’all. I’m genuinely afraid I’m going to die from this. Or I’ll bring it home and kill someone in my family.
I just needed to vent. This situation is so shitty for so many people. I wish employers cared about employees over the customer…I mean student…I mean parent…
