Read MoreLast week, we briefly mentioned the possibility of a disturbance forming in the Gulf of Mexico in early June, and that now appears more likely to happen. We have plenty of more questions than answers, and the most important message we can offer right now is to not be overly concerned with this. Watch it, […]

Read MoreI’m in Baytown helping my parents with some things and me and my daughter have been going out to check out sunrises and sunsets. I’d really like to go someplace with some sand and not rocks that does not involve going to the Island because we need to be back by 8am. However, it seems like every place with sand doesn’t open until 7. Sylvan Beach is locked up good in the morning. El Jardin doesn’t have a big fence, and I thought I could park on a side street and just step over the fence. But my kid says she won’t go anywhere that the gate isn’t open. She’s 12 and is a total rule follower. Both places don’t open until 7 and sunrise is at 6:20. Sylvan is the only public beach in all of Harris County which is just bizarre to me. Apparently, Chambers isn’t much better.
Last year, we ended up at Miramar by the Houston Yacht Club and it was a good view, but no sand.
We went to Beach City the other day, but again, no sand.
Do people on the East side not like the sunrise? Help!
