1999-2000 Midwife & Hitman Story

Hey yall, I’m piggy backing off of the urban legend post because it made me realize you guys have some good memories and I have an “urban legend” of my own and I wanted to see if anyone remembers something like this happening.

As the story goes, my hippie mom wanted a home birth for me, and hired a midwife. The midwife was great and so communicative and so on and so forth, but sometime in the third trimester, she ghosted completely. My mom hired a new midwife, but due to how late in the pregnancy she was, they didn’t get to meet until the midwife walked into the birthing room (second floor of historic firehouse #3 on Houston Ave if anyone is curious) while I was crowning. A few months later mom was watching the news with newborn me and the first midwife’s mugshot popped up with a story that she had hired a guy to kill her husband, which was unsuccessful, and fled to Mexico (hence ghosting) but had finally been caught.

Does anyone remember something like this happening? I’ve searched and couldn’t find anything and my mom doesn’t remember her name. Both of my parents have sworn up and down this happened.
