Travel 30 miles west of downtown Houston, and you’ll find Katy, one of the city’s fastest-growing suburbs. Aside from its family-friendly museums, parks,  shopping centers, and entertainment venues, the suburb is also home to some of the region’s best restaurants and dining destinations, including Katy Asian Town, an excellent strip mall center known for dessert bars, coffee shops, lauded restaurants, and markets that harness flavors from the Asian diaspora. But beyond this bustling development, there’s more to explore.

Katy’s increasingly buzzy food scene plays to all of the hits, offering Texas barbecue, South African cuisine, Venezuelan street food, and so much more. Not sure where to start? Consider exploring this list of essential restaurants in Katy.

Eater has updated this map to include Fogo de Chao, Hong Kong Food Street, Piada Italian Street Food, Airi Ramen and Sushi, Portillo’s Hot Dogs, and Katy Food Hall. Twenty-Five Teishoku House has been removed from the list.
